The MARINE WAVES an international maritime newsletter established as a non profit organisation maintain a break-even , beyond which if money saved from the advertisement charges, the same will be spent on seafarers genuine causes , who are in real distress and need. This newsletter came into being, to expose seafarer`s day-to-day life/afairs out at sea and ashore during their hard earned leave. The hassels while ashore as we all know corruption and speed money is making life miserable, with the hard-earned money earned from sacrifices out at sea.

Though , India is known to be one of the most corrupt countries in the world. The aggrieved seafarers who were voiceless all these years lived a silent death to all the injustices sustained, owing to the mobility of their profession and their inability to get together unlike other professions.
Seafarers were kept on article of the vessel for over a year onboard even on the state owned shipping corporation of India for want of reliever and their wives lived like a widow when their husband were alive and the children nearly orphans , identified them as uncles , they are virtually is found medically unfif for sea-service for B.P.(hypertension), harassment and humiliation starts for no fault of his but for ageing factor. Despite a bureaucrat of the shipping ministry points out without bias and prejudice , as to why VRS not considered for him? The same neglected till to date. Owing to the advent of the computers, seafarers could voice their genuine grievances online through this maritime professional journal “MARINE WAVES” while they are handicapped to get together unlike other professional to form a strong seafarer`s public opinion. Maintain a corrupt – free maritime administration in our country and be a role model to other maritime nations. It is heartening to note that Central Vigilance Commissioner , P.Shankar said ” The Hindu dated 16th Dec.2004″. The information provided will therefore embolden the seafarers , to question the wrongs comitted by the various public and private agencies. Our constitution guarantees fundamental rights to all the citizens , a lot needs to be done to provide the conditions of the rights of seafarers , the process of social change needs to be accelerated , by applying pressure on the relevant government and public sector agencies , to ensure a fair treatment , curtail unrealistic delays , harassment , humiliation to the rights and privileges of the innocent seafarers.Seafarers to assert themselves , who are patient but do not give-up , finding solutions to their various problems.”Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizen can change the world.Indeed , it is the only thing that ever has” ………..Margaret Mead.

The seafarers can enrich their knowledge , keeping them abreast with updates that are made available on international developments , with a competitive mindset , which itself builds up the confidence and determination of my valued readers and mental satisfaction to self , to achieve what we could not during the last fifty seven years of our independence. Today , we are faced with a challenge that calls for a shift in our thinking , so that humanity stops threatening its life support system and lets start healing our wounds. This message to the seafarers, through this media in print and online web of the MARINE WAVES , an international maritime newsletter published in Chennai , India , for the seafarers by the seafarer.

This is your professional newsletter giving you the greatest opportunity to express your valued opinion , particularly when deprived of your existing rights and privileges, without obligations, instead of falling a prey to the egoistic authorities, who cause delibrate delay and thereby the innocent, succumb to harassment and humiliation. Seafarers have been neglected all these years, miss out the basic citizen`s voting rights, while on their duties and during transit of signing on and off articles, being mislead/misguided owing to local procedural ignorance. This media is a golden opportunity for the maritime fraternity to voice their opinion , in strengthening the formation of Seafarere`s strong public opinion , for a corruption free administration in our associated discipline within our country and overseas, through a common forum interacting with “MARINE-WAVES”.

This, MARINE WAVES international maritime newsletter will concentrate on educating and imparting valid information , updating the seafarer`s who have quest for knowledge.Simultaneously, it would keep the government machinery informed and the seafarers awakened in their related matters, affecting their day-to-day professional life. The information provided will embolden the seafaring community to question the wrongs commited by the shipping company, maritime institutions, national and international maritime administrations, with an open mind to interact.Valued readers, served and serving mariners, should set example of unity to the rest of the world.
